Few are aware that the United States has not just one, but several sapphire deposits, all originating from Montana. For many years the small size of the sapphire rough coming from this region restricted it's appeal and availabilty in the international market. Further exploration of the Rock Creek region, near Philipsburg, Montana, has proved successful in yielding larger rough. The Rock Creek region is now famous for yielding a vast array of fancy tones of green, teal and parti sapphires as well as icy to rich vibrant blue sapphires.
